Sri Venkateswara College (SVC) of Delhi University South Campus is all set to begin its online courses which the students can access through MOOC (Massive Open Online Course). This will conduct new innovative courses in this digital mode.
The MOOC courses refer to that kind of courses which is delivered online and the students can enrol in the course, and carry out studies according to the given study material, do assignments and take an assessment of tests online in a specific time frame.
Prof. Lata Narayanan, who is an associate professor and also admissions head at the Sri Venkateswara College, has said that with the aim of developing more Information and Communication Technology (ICT) based learning through the development of these online courses for teaching and learning. At the initial phase, the system has only introduced an online evaluation of the ‘Entrepreneurship’ course which is an add-on course. She also informed that the teachers also designed a digital course and e-lesson plans on Climate Change.

The process of introducing MOOC in SVC started from last year. Said Prof. P Hemlatha Reddy who is the principal of the college. She added that around 50 teachers from the college attended a training session to design MOOC courses last year which was conducted by the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration.

The session gave them knowledge about the tools required to design a course in such a format. Prof. Reddy informed that the process of developing such course is underway by the faculties of the institute which will become live from August. In the introduction phase, the course will be open only for the students of the college but if the feedbacks are positive, the college has plans to open the course for everyone next year.
