6,600 students received their undergraduate degrees at the convocation ceremony.
SRM University Celebrates its 12th Convocation Ceremony

The SRM University of Tamil Nadu recently celebrated its 12 th convocation ceremony. The event was celebrated for two days and saw the participation of a lot of notable personalities. The chief guest of the event was Ambassador Dobelle who is the former Chief of Protocol and Assistant Secretary of State in the Jimmy Carter Administration. In his speech, he said that it is the responsibility of the young generation to protect each other and to protect democracy. Miss Saina Nehwal, number 1 shuttle badminton player and Olympic Bronze Medalist and Dr P. Sathyanarayanan, Chancellor of SRM University also participated in the event.

At the convocation ceremony, 6,600 students received their undergraduate degrees. The degrees distributed were of the following fields:

  • Medical
  • Management
  • Engineering and Technology
  • Design
  • Architecture
  • Health Sciences

The certificate of merit was also awarded to 190 students for their amazing performance in their particular field of study.

Saina Nehwal advised the graduating class to keep on trying to achieve their goals no matter what. She remembered that about 10 years ago shuttle badminton was not as famous and appreciated as it is now. That means one can always push the boundaries. She also said that it is very important to be physically fit in order to be mentally strong.
