St. Stephen’s College has decided to launch a course in Political Science (Honours) from the next academic session. The administration of the college has taken this step as Delhi University decided to launch additional courses in 63 affiliated colleges from the next academic session. The decision to launch additional courses was taken by the Executive Council of the varsity on February 28, 2017.
Apart from St. Stephen’s, Gargi College will also offer a course in Economics. However, the introduction of additional courses in the colleges depends upon the funding agency, i.e., Delhi government and University Grants Commission.

However, these colleges will apply for the approval to launch new courses from Delhi government and University Grants Commission. One of the officials of the Executive Council revealed that the approval for additional courses is given only after carrying out an inspection of these colleges.
Apart from St. Stephen’s, the Political Science (Honours) course will also be offered in Bhagini Nivedita College and Swami Shraddhanand College .

Apart from Gargi College, Economics (Honours) course will also be offered in Sri Aurobindo College (Evening) , Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College , Ramanujan College , Bhim Rao Ambedkar College and Bharti College . Similarly, some of the colleges will also offer Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) course.
During the 2016-17 academic session, Delhi University had allowed 19 colleges to launch new courses. However, these courses did not become functional as the colleges failed to adjust the courses with the number of seats available as prescribed by University Grants Commission.
