An all India student body, Fraternity Movement’s Kozhikode district branch has launched an online petition protest in demand for the CSIR NET examination centre to be allotted in Kozhikode. The Kozhikode centre is being demanded the convenience of candidates of the Malabar Region. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research National Eligibility Test or CSIR NET is conducted all over India. This is an exam that awards lectureship in junior research fellowship.
The fraternity said that the region of Malabar is one of the densely populated 7 districts of Kerala from where the CSIR NET aspirants are going up in number. 50% of the population lives here and not being assigned an examination centre at Kozhikode led to severe inconvenience to the aspirants of the bi-annual CSIR NET from Malabar region.
The organisation of fraternity said in the petition that the candidates from Malabar region face problems on reliability on the centres that are assigned in Cochin and Thiruvananthapuram. The number of candidates is significantly high from the Malabar Region.
Raheem K, the fraternity district president has informed that the students from the Malabar region have been deprived and neglected and it has a long history. The negligence has been also seen in the academic and education front. It is a problem for the northern Kerala aspirants to travel all the way to South Kerala Trivandrum and Kochin centres to attempt the CSIT NET examination. He demanded that CSIR NET authority to allocate a centre in Kozhikode to fight the regional imbalance.
He backed his demand by saying that Kozhikode is emerging as a major technological hub in India and has all the facilities and infrastructures with big universities which are capable to hold the examination in the city.
The tenability of CSIR NET is in IITs, Universities, Post Graduate Colleges and government research establishments. Many private and public sectors value the people who succeed in CSIR NET examination.
