Sreeja Kamishetty who is a student of final year dual degree masters course at the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIIT) was the only Indian student who participated in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and African) regions Google Student Retreat programme which was recently held in London.
Initially, Sreeja had applied for an internship opportunity in Google and was unable to crack it. However, her application was selected for the Get Ahead Programme for EMEA 2018, which is an initiative towards helping women in technology domain to come forward and work on various projects and workshops organized by Google.
EMEA 2018 was a three-day programme which was held from 7th-9th August 2018. The platform is useful for women as it enables them to learn and strengthen their technology skills, grow their network with other attendees alongside learning different cultures and products of Google.

While elaborating on her experience, Kamishetty said that during the Google Retreat Programme, the company laid emphasis on interactions with different scholars, generating networks, initiating discussions on Google cultures and products, discovering different techniques on coding, sharing success and failure stories and discussing the different opportunities provided by Google.
Through this retreat, she was not only able to boost her confidence, but she termed the retreat programme as a learning experience which helped her with preparing for job interviews. Shreeja is currently pursuing her masters in Machine Learning under the guidance of Professor Praveen Paruchuri at IIIT Hyderabad.

The EMEA retreat programme at Google is a great platform for women who wish to excel in tech-skills and coding.
