The Minister of Human Resource and Development of Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that students must play an essential role in social service activities. He conducted a press meet on September 1, 2016 , to explain about the educational institutions that are to come up in the new capital of Andhra Pradesh, Amaravathi.

He said that a total number of 18 reputed institutions had sent applications to grant land for the establishment of institutions. So far, the land has been granted to three institutions which include Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), SRM and Amrutandamai Group of Institutions. The Department of Higher Education is referring the applications received from other institutes and will allot the land soon.

The minister appreciated the efforts of college students who served during ‘Krishna Pushkaralu’ and made it a grand success. Volunteers from 250 colleges of Krishna and Guntur Districts served for 12 days. He said that the government is going to take up various social activities where students will play a significant role.
He assured that the government would take steps to fill 1,100 teaching vacancies in Universities.
