The students of Himachal Pradesh University staged a protest against the authorities of University after the implementation of Rashtriya Uchhatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA). The students were shocked at the fact that 98% of them failed in the first semester in an unprecedented way. The students demanded the authorities of the University to conduct revaluation of answer sheets. They believe that the number of failures could never be so high.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. A D N Bajpai assured the students that necessary steps would be taken to address their grievances. He said that a high-level committee had been set up under the chairmanship of Prof. S S Chauhan, Dean, College Development Council to look into the matter.
The committee also consists of Dr. Mukesh Kumar , System Analyst of the Computer Cell, Dr. J S Negi , COE, Dr. Ram Lal Sharma , General Secretary, HPGCTA and Dr. Raja Ram , Principal Government College Kotshera.
The committee has been given the responsibility to check the proper functioning of software, random checking of evaluated answer sheets, proper tabulation of the main results and correct transmission of actual marks given by the college teachers.
Vice Chancellor requested the students to stay calm and wait for the report of the fact-finding committee.
