Students Question Discontinuation of Free JEE Main Coaching Classes

Students Question Discontinuation of Free JEE Main Coaching Classes

In the year 2016, the Aam Aadmi Party government had tied-up with a private institute to provide free coaching to promising JEE Main aspirants. However, the free coaching facility was stopped from this academic year.

During an interaction held to congratulate students who cleared JEE Main, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia faced a lot of opposition from the students for discontinuing free coaching.

Kirpan Singh who belongs to Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya (RPVV), Kishanganj, was the first amongst the crowd to raise his voice regarding this matter. However, Sisodia replied to his question saying that the initiative was started on a pilot basis and they received a lot of negative feedback from the students who said that they were unable to cope up with it following which the party decided to discontinue the scheme.

Apart from Kirpan Singh, many school principal also persuaded the Chief Minister to bring back the coaching facility as it was really helpful to promising students. Many people from the crowd also suggested them to start such interactions with students who clear the NEET exam as well.

As per the records, 338 government school students have cleared the JEE Main 2018 examination to secure a seat in the engineering colleges and qualified for the JEE Advanced which is a gateway for admission to one of the IITs.

One of the students of RPVV, Lajpat Nagar, drew the panel's attention towards the need to fill the vacant posts and the shortage of teachers in the school. The government is planning to start a scheme where the school management and the principal can recruit teachers temporarily and fill the posts.
