Submit teachers' info by March 10: SUK

The Shivaji University, Kolhapur (SUK) has asked its affiliated colleges to submit information about teaching faculties on its online web portal by March 10. As per the circular issued by the university, it said that the information will be used as the database for various examination-related works, especially the paper evaluation process.

In the circular, the exam department stated that the information is quite necessary and needs to be filled by March 10 in an effort to create the e-database. "Those experiencing difficulty in filling up the information are provided a user manual as well as a standard ID and password for assistance," it stated.

The exam department had drawn a circular last month asking all the affiliated colleges to submit the information regarding their faculty members by generating their login IDs on the university website. However, the department received an unsatisfactory response.

The e-database is a unique initiative by the university to have readymade information about the eligible candidates for examination work such as paper setting & evaluation, the formation of flying squad, examiner, and supervisor. It will act as a candidate bank for them. "The colleges need to be supportive of this kind of initiative. These activities are student-centric and will enhance the credibility of the department as well as the university," said an SUK official, requesting anonymity.

"The database will provide the department a chance to review the pre, post and ongoing examination strength across Sangli, Satara and Kolhapur districts. It will eventually be reflected in the efficiency of the department and the examination-related work, which is under a lot of stress," the official said.

The SUK has made several changes in its examination pattern since the last one year. The department had reduced the schedule of the October 2014 semester examination to 57 days from the earlier 79 days.

The e-database is a unique approach to the university to have the readymade database of the eligible candidates for the examination work like the paper setting, paper evaluation, flying squad member, examiner, and supervisor etc. and it will act as a candidate bank for them. The colleges need to be supportive of this kind of initiative as these activities are student-centric and will enhance the credibility of the department as well as of the university, said a university official.
