Supreme Court Accepts MCI’s Plea to Extend NEET Counselling Dates

The Supreme Court of India has accepted the plea of Medical Council of India (MCI) seeking the extension of NEET-UG 2017 counselling dates. Now, the candidates who have cleared NEET-UG 2017 examination will have more time to enroll into medical or dental colleges across the country. The counsel of MCI submitted a list of dates which the apex court has accepted. According to the schedule submitted by MCI to SC, the admission process for MBBS course will end on August 28, 2017, and the admission process for BDS course will end on September 10, 2017.

Justices M.V. Ramana and Dipak Mishra extended the dates of MCI counselling after hearing the argument of MCI. The counsel of MCI claimed that the result declaration process of NEET-UG 2017 was delayed due to an interim order of Madras HC. Due to the delay in declaring the result, the MCC could not conduct the counselling process as per schedule. Therefore, the MCI sought the extension of NEET Counselling dates for which the apex court gave approval.

The apex court also informed all the HCs not to entertain any pleas in the matters relating to NEET-UG 2017.

NEET-UG 2017 counselling successfully began on July 3, 2017, with the registration process. The choice filling process also began on July 5, 2017, and the deadline for the same is July 12, 2017. The candidates must lock the options by 5:00 PM on July 12, 2017.

CBSE has also updated the revised answer key of NEET-UG 2017 on the official website.
