Supreme Court Directs CBSE to Declare NEET-UG 2017 Results

Supreme Court Directs CBSE to Declare NEET-UG 2017 Results

Finally, after a long delay, the Supreme Court of India has directed the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to declare the results of NEET-UG 2017 examination. The apex court also directed all the HCs not to entertain any petitions on the matters relating to the national level medical examination, i.e., NEET. The court further directed the CBSE to begin the admission process as per the schedule.

The CBSE was to declare the results of NEET examination last week on 8th June 2017. However, the High Court of Madras imposed a stay on the declaration of results. CBSE approached Supreme Court against the interim stay on the declaration of results. Finally, the apex court favoured the majority of students with its decision. Lakhs of students have been eagerly waiting for the results.

With the declaration of NEET-UG 2017 results, CBSE’s responsibility will be over, and Directorate General of Health Services and Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct the counselling process under 15% All-India Quota.

Now, CBSE might declare the NEET-UG 2017 results any time following the SC’s order. The MCC will also declare the counselling schedule and process on the official portal (MCC) soon.

As far as the number of seats are concerned, there are 65,000 MBBS seats and 25,000 BDS seats in various medical colleges/ deemed universities across the country. This year, around 11 lakh candidates took NEET examination for the admission to BDS and MBBS courses. According to sources, the waiting list will be four times of the merit list.
