Tamil Nadu has been highly influenced and motivated by the concept of Super 30. It has launched a similar training and nurturing program for a select group of 40 students in the same line of Super 30. This program is the Super 40 program since the facility would be provided to a select group of 40 meritorious students. This program is designed to help underprivileged students get a chance to compete at the national level. This initiative will also boost the government's socio-economic development ecosystem by allowing underprivileged students to compete at competitions like JEE Main , CA, CLAT.
Selecting the Super 40
The 40 students were picked each from Tamil Medium and English Medium Schools from each district. The selection was done on the basis of the performance in various talent search competitions and exams like the NTSE (National Talent Search Examination). After taking consent from their parents, these students have been enrolled in model schools in their respective districts.
In the first phase, a total of 14 districts including Salem, Perambalur, Krishnagiri, Tiruvallur, Dharmapuri, Trichy, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Tiruvannamalai and Chennai would be the beneficiary of the model school training program.
Facilities Offered
The students are offered food, shelter, books, training materials and rigorous classroom-based training. They also appear for a daily test to help teachers analyze their progress. The classes begin at 8:15 in the morning and end by 5 pm. The students are also encouraged to participate in sports and games during the weekend.
