An orange alert has been issued for various coastal regions of the state, including Ariyalur, Thanjavur, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Kancheepuram, Chennai, Thiruvallur, and Ranipettai. The Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai predicts moderate to heavy downpours with thunderstorms throughout the day. In light of the IMD's alert, the school holiday in the affected districts has been extended to November 29, 2024.
