Tamil Nadu School Holiday Updates 15 October 2024: Currently, Tamil Nadu is facing the impact of North-East monsoons because of which, several districts are experiencing heavy rain. On October 14, 2024, almost 9 districts of Tamil Nadu are experiencing heavy rain but the district authorities did not declare a school holiday. The situation is likely to turn worse by the evening of October 14 and heavy rains are expected in 9 districts on October 15 as well. Districts like Pudukottai, Cuddalore, Villupuram etc are under orange alert which means heavy rains are expected on October 14 and 15. Therefore, students and parents are looking for an update on whether the schools shall function as usual or a holiday be declared due to rain. The Government of Tamil Nadu empowered the district authorities to decide on a school holiday based on the situation in their respective districts.

List of Tamil Nadu Districts under Orange Alert on 15 October 2024

The following districts are expected to receive heavy rain on October 15 as per the prediction of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) -

• Pudukottai
• Thanjavur
• Thiruvarur
• Nagapattinam
• Karikal
• Ariyalur
• Perambalur
• Cuddalore
• Villupuram

Is there a chance for the Tamil Nadu School Holiday on 15 October 2024?

School holiday in Tamil Nadu on 15 October 2024 could be possible only if the situation turns worse in the above districts. For example, if several areas in the respective districts are inundated with rain water, then there is a chance for a school holiday. On the other hand, if there is heavy rain during the early hours of October 15 (between 4 AM to 8 AM), then the chances of declaring the school holiday are high. Students must note that the district authorities will confirm if there is a school holiday or not during the early hours of October 15. Therefore, students are advised to not believe any rumours on the schools leave.
