- Anna University to get India's Second Technology And Innovation Support Center (TISC), as per their agreement with DIPP
- The main aim of TISC is to create progressive IPRs system in India for the socio-economic devlopment of the country.
The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has given its consent to an agreement with Anna University to get India’s second Technology and Support Center (TISC).
As a major aspect of this agreement, India’s second TISC will be built up at the Center for Intellectual Property Rights (CIPR), Anna University, Chennai, under the World Intellectual Property Organization's (WIPO) TISC program.
WIPO Technology and Innovation Support Center offer researchers in developing countries with opportunities and access to local data, innovation data, and other related services. They also help them to utilize their potential data and how to deal with their Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs).

The target of the TISC is to create progressive and stabilized Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) system in India to boost new technological innovations and creativity. Hence, leading to the overall development of the country.
More than 500 TISCs work worldwide and setting up a TISC in India will give the host organizations access to the worldwide system. Likewise, TISC will be provided with the knowledge regarding capacity building, sharing and commercialization of Intellectual Properties.

CIPR has filed more than 29 Trademarks, 25 Industrial Design, 185 Patents, and is also responsible for filing 12 International Patent Applications. It has also organized various awareness events and certificate programmes on IPR subjects.
