TSCHE, also known as Telangana State Council for Higher Education is all set to implement 20% of seats in degree courses of private colleges under management quota. TSCHE Chairperson, Mr. Papireddy revealed that the council has no objection in reserving 20% of seats in private degree colleges under management quota. However, the final decision will be taken by the Education Minister of Telangana, Mr. Jagadeesh Reddy. The representatives of the Association of Degree Colleges will soon meet the Education Minister and ask about 20% reservation of seats under management quota.
At present, there are 1050 government and private degree colleges in Telangana. So far, all the seats in Telangana degree colleges are being filled through DOST (Degree Online Admissions Telangana). The major problem is that many students who plan to join degree courses in July or August are facing difficulty, as the admission process through DOST completes by the end of July. As the degree admissions in Telangana are completely based on DOST, many students are unable to get admission.
In order to mitigate the above issue, 20% of seats in private degree colleges will be reserved for management quota, and students can get admission in the desired course and college even after the completion of admission process through DOST. The idea will also reduce the vacant number of seats in private degree colleges across Telangana.
