The first phase degree admissions in Telangana under Telangana DOST (Degree Online Services, Telangana) have been concluded. Compared to the last year, degree colleges witness a surge in the number of admissions. So far, 70% of seats have been filled in degree colleges across the state. Out of 80,678 seats allotted in the first phase counselling , 51,691 were girls and 28,987 were boys.
Highlights of Telangana DOST – Degree Admissions 2018:
- This year, B.Sc emerged as the most popular course in degree colleges across Telangana. Close 38,220 students secured admission in B.Sc course in the first phase counselling process.
- B.Com bagged the second spot with 32,849 students.
- English medium degree courses were most preferable among students with 66,702 students opting for the same.
- Continuing the trend, there were fewer takers for Telugu medium degree courses with 7,351 students opted for the same.
- Surprisingly, only one candidate joined Hindi medium degree course, while 605 students chose degree courses in Urdu medium.
- So far, there were no takers for Arabic medium UG courses.

This year, there is a huge demand for UG seats in 15 government colleges across the state. Almost, all the seats in these colleges have been filled with only a handful of seats for second phase counselling. 128 government colleges in Telangana were able to fill 17,445 seats in the first phase itself.

From the next year, students taking admission under DOST can confirm their admission online instead of self-reporting to college.
