The Government of Telangana will soon set up an exclusive university for women. Koti Women’s College , one of the popular colleges and 96-year old constituent college of Osmania University will be transformed into a university. The college is located in the heart of the city and it is spread over 40-acres. According to sources, Koti Women’s College will be upgraded into exclusive university for women in the next academic session.
For initiating the process of upgrading Koti Women’s College into a university, the state government will constitute a consultancy comprising officials from the Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Archaeology Department, Education Department, Osmania University and Koti Women’s College.

The consultancy that will be constituted by the state government will chalk out a detailed plan within a month for constructing new buildings like hostel, administrative and academic blocks. The construction works will be imitated without disturbing the heritage structures of the campus.
Education and Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, Mr. Kadiyam Srihari inspected the college campus on Thursday, February 22, 2018. After understanding the situation of the college, Mr. Srihari mentioned that Koti Women’s College is the right choice to be upgraded into a university. The final decision will be taken after holding consultations with the Chief Minister of Telangana, he revealed.

Koti Women’s College is an autonomous institute, which has been reaccredited with ‘A’ grade by NAAC . The college offers 23 UG and 20 PG courses in 29 departments.
In 2017, the state government sanctioned Rs. 200 crore for Osmania University towards developmental activities as a part of centenary celebrations . Out of the total sanctioned amount, Rs. 37 crore has been earmarked for the development of infrastructure and other facilities in Koti Women’s College. However, over Rs. 100 crore is necessary for setting up the varsity will all the facilities.
