Telangana is the first state in the country that has decided to centralise the ITI or Industrial Training Institute admissions through an online system in both private and government colleges. Mr. Nayani Narasimha Reddy, Minister of Labour and Employment made the announcement on the same on June 7, 2017. On this occasion, he revealed that National Informatics Centre (NIC) had developed portals for Delhi and Karnataka. However, these states conducted counselling in offline mode, and it was not extended to private ITIs.
Mr. Nayani further indicated that there are a total number of 42,162 seats in private and government ITIs, and all these seats will be filled through the online system. This year, around one lakh students might register for admissions. He also congratulated the officials for developing the software to carry out online admissions within two months. The new software will enable centralised admissions.

Explaining about the advantages of the new system, Mr. Nayani said that the new initiative will not only save the time but also enable students to choose as many colleges they can in a single click. Earlier, the students used to visit four to five districts to submit applications in reputed ITIs. Now, the students can just sit at home, and choose any ITI across the state.
The minister also mentioned that the students would receive an SMS after the registration process is over. The SMS will have the date, time and venue where the candidates will have to attend the certification verification process. The new system will also regulate the malpractices, and ensure transparency in the system. Linking of students’ Aadhaar number is also mandatory for the all the ITIs. The government will take necessary steps to fill the vacancies in all ITIs before the commencement of the new academic session.

The registration process for ITI online admissions will begin from June 8, 2017. The online web portal will also have details about the fee structure of private ITI colleges. The official ITI-Telangana portal is functional now, and the candidates can register on the official portal.
