Telangana MBBS, BDS Fee Hike

The fee structure for MBBS and BDS courses at private medical colleges and institutions in Telangana is likely to increase from the 2020-23 academic year. The fee hike may take place as Telangana Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (TAFRC) is going to revise the fees for the undergraduate courses. According to the reports, the fee structure is likely to increase by 5 percent by the committee.

In November last year, there were reports that the committee is going to review and increase the fees for all the courses including MBSS, BDS, MS, SS, MDS and AYUSH courses among various medical colleges/ institutes in Telangana.

Latest Updates

After the Telangana Government made the decision to hike the MBBS and BDS fees at the medical colleges in Telangana, junior doctors have requested the Government to consider the changes in the fee structures that have been brought in by the Private Medical Colleges in Telangana over the past few years, without receiving any intimations from the government for the same.

Taking into consideration the statements provided by the Junior Doctors, the government has directed all medical colleges to present the appropriate data along with the Audited Financial Statement for 2017-18 and 2018-19, online. The Government has set a deadline for the same on 31st January 2020. All colleges will be required to present the requisite date by the stipulated time, as the violating colleges will not be allowed to collect the fees for the 2020-23 block period.

The TAFRC has requested for a 5% increase in the fees for the UG medical courses offered in the state, however, the junior doctors have claimed that the private medical colleges have increased their fees by 5% every year.

However, the government had issued a clause which allowed institutions to increase their fees by 5% every year, keeping in mind the inflation witnessed for the year. The HRDA has now requested the government to consider the fee hike that has taken place over the span of the previous block period.
