Telangana Medical Colleges have been granted the approval for introducing more seats under the various PG medical courses. The Medical Council of India (MCI) has granted approval for 131 PG medical seats.
Nizam Medical College has been granted the most number of seats out of the 131, at 54 PG medical seats approved for the college. The new and approved seats will be applicable for the academic session of 2020-21, thus, increasing the chances of a PG medical aspirants taking admissions in the Telangana colleges.
On January 17, 2020, MCI had granted approval to Nizam Medical College. Prior to the increased number of PG medical seats in the states, there had been a total of 1,624 seats available for aspirants across the states.

Along with Nizam Medical College, 5 other medical colleges, spread across the state have been granted approval for introducing more PG medical seats. Among the list of colleges that have been granted approval;
Adilabad Medical College received approval for 8 seats
Gandhi Medical College received 19 medical seats
Mahabubnagar Medical College received 14
Kakatiya Medical College received 12 seats; and
Osmania Medical College received 24 medical seats

With the additional seats being brought in to the postgraduate medical education in the state, the intensity of the competition is expected to decrease as well. Aspirants will be able to grab a seat in one of the top medical colleges in Telangana, thus, reducing the number of aspirants who travel outside the state for their education.
