Telangana State Government Eliminates Detention System for Degree courses this Year

The student having backlog in any subject will have to appear for the exam next year. The elimination of the detention system is not applicable for the final year students who will have to appear for their qualifying degree examination.

Seeing the effect of global pandemic around the world, the Telangana state government has decided to remove the detention system for conventional degree courses for the year 2019-20. This means that the students who are in the first year of their college will be directly qualified for the second year and the students are in the second year of their college will be directly qualified for the third year. The student having backlog in any subject will have to appear for the exam next year. The elimination of the detention system is not applicable for the final year students who will have to appear for their qualifying degree examination.

In context to the decision taken by the state government, the chairman of Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE), Prof. T Papi Reddy stated that while the final exams for all the degree courses will be conducted, there will be no detention system for 1st and 2nd-year students. He further added that the decision has been taken in order to tackle the stress of the students in this time of the pandemic. While all the students who are in the final year will have to qualify their examination as per the required score.

The Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) has issued the notification for the state level entrance exams which are conducted for providing admission to the students into various programmes in universities. These exams will be postponed until the next notification received by the state government.
