THE Impact Rankings 2022 have been published for the 2022 edition. The Times Higher Education (THE) is globally recognised to rank various universities of the world. THE Impact incorporates universities of 110 countries in its rankings. In the 2022 edition, THE Impact Rankings have recorded 1524 universities and divided among 18 tables across various UN’s (United Nations) SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). Out of which one is an overall ranking list for all the 17 SDGs.
There has been a rise of 23% in the overall participating universities in 2022. Western Sydney University, Australia has secured the top position in the overall rankings by THE Impact Rankings 2022. The university secured the top position in SDG 6 (clean water and sanitation) and second rank in SDG 12 (responsible consumption and production).

THE Impact Ranking 2022: India
In the recent edition of THE Impact Rankings 2022, India has recorded the fourth position with 8 universities in the top 300 universities. India has also ranked universities across various SDGs in the top quartile positions. A total of 64 universities in India made it to THE Impact Ranking 2022. A total of 110 countries participated in THE Impact Rankings 2022. Among the South Asian countries, India breaks through into the world’s top 50, and top 100 universities. India has 64 universities represented in the ranking list, the same as Turkey. Further, Calcutta University has been ranked in the top position in the central and state-aided public universities by THE Impact Rankings 2022. OP Jindal Global University (JGU) has been featured in the top 600-800 band in the ranking with a 60.3 score out of 100.

The Chief Knowledge Officer, THE, Phil Baty said that it was inspiring that a large number of universities participated from the western elites as well as outside the western elites. He adds that universities were open to scrutiny to demonstrate and measure the impacts of the SDGs. Universities, students, as well as governments have shown commitment to strengthening the SDGs.
