Here is a good news for all Indians to be proud of for bringing reputation at the global level by two institutes of higher learning. At the latest Times Higher Education World University, Rankings 2016-2017 these two Indian Indian institutions have ranked 71 and 82 subject-wise for computer science.
These two institutes are -
TH Zurich – Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, occupied the top spot in computer science. It is followed by California Institute of Technology and the University of Oxford.
Carly Minsky from Times Higher Education said that this new ranking on computer science and information technology has shown India’s strength in this specific area.

In the rankings of arts and humanities, Harvard and Stanford Universities have been ranked the best in the world. For business and economics, USA based Massachusetts Institute of Technology ranked number one institution.
Harvard University and Stanford University ranked first and second in physical sciences category. Stanford University is also ranked the top institution in social sciences.

The University of Oxford, which became the first UK university to top the table, also makes it to the top five in the seven subject rankings, which in itself in a record.
Two new subjects have been added this year. They are:
- Business and Economics
- Computer Science
Many Asian universities have also risen up in the subject rankings since last year. The diverse list of institutions for computer science also features a number of new and rising universities from the Asia-Pacific region and Europe. China is the 3rd most represented country in the list of best universities for engineering, ahead of Australia, Germany, and Canada. Peking University is in the top 20 for engineering, physical sciences and business and economics.
