On the occasion of 'International Women's Day' UP Governor Ram Naik praised the girl students in Uttar Pradesh for excelling in education. This he disclosed while addressing a press conference at Raj Bhawan.
"I have been visiting and inspecting universities and colleges and interacting with faculties for qualitative improvement in higher education and happy to see girls improving in education by outnumbering boys in winning medal," the Governor said.
Governor presented a summary of the recent tally of medals and awards won by students and concluded that girls have outnumbered boys in winning medals. Of the 6,35930 students received degrees in convocations, out of which 40% were females.
The Governor was pleased to note that out of 1,196 medal holders 67% (806) were won by girls. He said except in the field of agriculture where only 34 % medals were won by women, numbers were outstanding especially in technical education where the figure was 79%. Of the Chancellor's medal, girl students won 62% (116) and out of 964 gold medals, girls won 609, besides 66% silver and 73% bronze medals.
The Governer also greeted women achievers from various fields.
