As many as 10 students of the reputed IIM Lucknow decided to skip the placement drives and chase their passion and dreams. With the belief that one can excel by following their heart, the students have decided to carve their own path for themselves.
Sharath Kumar, one of the 10 students to withdraw their names from the campus placement, said that he wants to pursue his passion for fictional writing. He said that he opted out of the placements as he wanted to dedicate his time completely to writing in order to flourish in this field. Sharath also added that his parents are supportive of his decision and want his happiness above all.

He said that opting out of placements was a difficult decision considering the benefits of a regular job but he doesn’t regret his decision. Now Kumar wants to give his best shot at writing.
Jay Shah is another student who ditched placements to become a social entrepreneur. He wants to work in the field integrated organic farming. Shah revealed that his initial plan was to work for 2 years after graduating from IIM Lucknow and then pursue his dream.
He changed his course after taking a course on business sustainability and externalities market. The subject sensitised him regarding environmental issues and he felt motivated to make a difference.
Shah and Kumar are not the only students who have set out to pursue their dreams. A senior IIM-L professor informed that few other students who have financially stable backgrounds take such bold decisions with the support of their parents.

IIM Lucknow recorded 100% placement for 435 students of its 31st batch within 3 days. More than 170 domestic as well as international organisations participated in the campus placement of the institute.
