TISS Students’ Protests Likely to Affect Placements this Year

The ongoing protest of TISS students demanding fee waiver has damaged the reputation of the institute to some extent. The current scenario at TISS is expected have a negative impact on the placement process this year.

According to sources, over three regular recruiters on the campus have stalled their recruitment process. These companies used to recruit at least 10 TISS students in different roles. However, TISS did not receive any official communication from these three companies regarding the recruitment process. Speculations have been surrounding the campus placements process at TISS this year and students are not sure whether the companies visit the campus to recruit students or not.

Dean of Student Affairs and Placements, Professor P.K. Shajahan revealed that the three companies stalled the recruitment process temporarily due to the ongoing protest on the campus. Once all the issues are sorted out, the placement process will begin and the placement percentage of the institute will not be affected. The regular recruiters are yet to give confirmation on-campus placements. More details will be confirmed soon, he clarified.

Usually, the campus placement process at TISS begins in December and continues until the completion of the academic session. The three companies that have kept recruitment process on hold usually offer jobs in the consultancy domain. The authorities of TISS did not disclose any details relating to the commencement of campus placements.

Students of TISS started their protest on February 21, 2018 , demanding the institute to roll back its decision to rollback post matric scholarship for students belonging to economically weaker sections of the society.
