Topics on Bullet Train, Big Data to be Added in Engineering Curriculum from Next Year

In today's time, Big Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things have become quite popular among engineering students with most of them showing a keen interest in acquiring knowledge in these fields. As of now, the technical institutes across the country do not have these topics in their curriculum following which students feel the need to take special courses. The government has come up with a novel idea through which these technological advancements will be a part of revised engineering syllabus. Apart from that, bullet trains will also be one of the topics in the new curriculum.

The revised engineering syllabus will be implemented from the next academic session with an objective to make Indian engineering students more employable. Practical learning is possible with the addition of such topics in the existing engineering curriculum.

According to AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education), the revised syllabus will address the issue of fall in placements of fresh engineering graduates. There are more than 3,000 registered technical institutes across the country. Every year, more than 7 lakh students graduate from these institutes and only half of them are able to get jobs in campus placements. For instance, only 3.34 lakh engineering graduates were able to secure jobs out of the 7.58 lakh graduates during the academic session 2015-16.

Courses on Indian Constitution and Environmental Sciences will also be a part of the engineering curriculum.
