Tripura government revised the eligibility criteria for Teachers’ Eligibility Test and declared that candidates will be required to store a minimum of 50% marks in graduate and post graduate course in order to appear for the test. Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) is conducted to appoint teachers.
In addition to the change in eligibility criteria, candidates who have studied from English medium institutes will be given preference while short-listing candidates. Tapan Chakraborty, Education Minister, Tripura government informed that the amendments to the criteria of TET were done under the Right to Education Act. Prior to this, similar rules were applicable to the elementary education level as per the instructions of the central government.
The minister also informed that in the meetings to come, the cabinet will discuss the post vacancy in the education department before any further recruitment is done. A fresh recruitment drive will be conducted by TPSC for the recruitment of 148 Asst Professors, added Education Minister, Chakraborty. Only the candidates who had appeared for the previous earlier written examination can reappear for the exam another time.
