The Telangana EAMCET Counselling which was commenced on 22-June-2016 has been receiving a moderate response. A total number of 1,32,000 candidates appeared for the Telangana EAMCET examination which was held in the month of may. Out of them, 1,30,000 candidates have qualified in the examination. Most of the students who are attending for counselling are not turning up for the admissions in the allotted colleges. Last year, out of 56,000 who had been allotted seats only 48,000 have joined in the colleges.
Most of the parents are not showing any interest to join their children in the colleges which are allotted in the counselling. They are showing eager interest to join their children either in Deemed Universities or top colleges which have good placement percentage. They are joining their children by opting management seats in reputed engineering colleges across Telangana. Some of the officials say that most of the students are attending for EAMCET just for name sake and not turning up for the admissions. Instead, they are joining in degree colleges or showing interest to join in IITs and NITs by securing a good score in IIT – JEE .
