The University Grants Commission (UGC) directed all higher education institutes across the country to conduct a test on Women’s Rights and Legal Rights of Women with an aim to create awareness among the women about the rights and laws so that they will be conversant with the pertinent laws. National Commission for Women (NCW) urged UGC to issue a direction to all the colleges regarding the same.
Colleges can hold the test on women’s rights until December 31, 2018. National Commission for Women has decided Rs. 2,000 as the first prize for women who excel in the test on women’s rights and legal rights for women. The second prize is Rs. 1,500 , and there will be five prizes of Rs. 1,000 each. The prize money will be provided by NCW to all the colleges. The colleges will have to conduct the test and award the prize money to the toppers of the exam.

Apart from the cash prize, NCW will bear additional costs incurred by colleges for conducting the tests, paper setting, invigilation, evaluation and refreshments for invigilators. The colleges can claim up to Rs.20,000 incurred for additional expenses by proving necessary bills.
It is the responsibility of the colleges to prepare a question paper on women’s rights/ legal rights for women. The question paper should comprise of 75 questions, and all the questions should have multiple choices for answers.

- Several other Acts that deal with Harassment of Women and Minorities
Interested girls can take part in the test conducted by their respective colleges.
