With consideration of the recent events on Covid-19, the University Grant Commission (UGC) has released an advisory to all higher education institutes. The UGC has been closely monitoring academic activities over time since the outbreak of the pandemic. The recent notification that was released by UGC on December 13, 2021, is related to conducting online/ offline/ blended classes and deciding on the mode of exams.
What did UGC Advise to all Education Institutes in Recent Notification?
Currently, the pandemic is facing new turns with a more hybrid virus. Therefore, all educational institutions are directed to take all precautionary measures and to take necessary decisions regarding conducting exams. Moreover, decisions on conducting physical classes or opening the campus are also to be taken into consideration. The institution is to decide now, whether to conduct online/ offline/ blended mode for classes and examinations.

UGC had earlier released several guidelines in respect to the academic calendar (2020-2021). Guidelines referring to details of examinations to be held, opening of institutions, admissions, and other curriculum activities.
Additionally, multiple Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) were also issued mentioning the terms and conditions for conduction examinations during the pandemic. Notifications were released on these dates: April 29, 2020, July 6, 2020, July 8, 2020, September 29, 2020, November 5, 2020, and July 16, 2021.
Also, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare requested the educational institutions to follow strict Covid-19 protocols. The request was made on December 10, 2021. All guidelines, SOPs are to be followed strictly for all Higher Educational Institutions. Covid-19 appropriate behaviour is to be followed at all times without any excuses and at all places.
