CBSE has been given the duty to conduct the NET exam on behalf of UGC or the University Grants Commission. Usually, the exam is conducted twice in a year in the months of January and July. However, it was being contemplated that from now on it will be conducted only once a year as, among the number of applicants, only 17% of them appear for the exam, out of which only 4% qualify. Hence the exam has been scheduled for the month of November. Many students were agitated with the decision and even carried out protests outside the UGC offer demanding it to roll back the decision. Additionally, the number of NET qualifications are also likely to be capped at six percent.
