The
UGC-NET
took place yesterday i.e 10th July’ 16 all over India but it is postponed for candidates in Srinagar. The NET-National Eligibility test is conducted by the
CBSE i.e. the Central Board of Secondary Education
on behalf of
UGC-University Grants Commission
. This exam is conducted for students who wish to do JRF-Junior Research Fellowship and lectureship in government colleges and universities.
The NET was conducted in 87 cities in 83 different languages on Sunday but Srinagar was not one of them.
NET is postponed for students in Srinagar because of the unpredictable conditions there. Srinagar right now is in curfew-like restrictions because of the protests over the killing of terror group Hizbul Mujahideen’s poster boy Burhan Wani in an encounter by the security forces.
CBSE made a statement on Saturday, just a day before the exam and in that statement, they stated that the exam for Srinagar students is postponed due to unavoidable circumstances.
But they did not mention any specific date as to which it is postponed, they are still deciding.
There are 16 examination centres in Srinagar and 10255 candidates had registered for the examination.
