The University Grants Commission directed all the universities across the country to file a report on the Internal Complaint Committee. The UGC also seeks report regarding the special cell to deal with the issues of gender-based violence. The report must be submitted by 31-August-2016.

A circular was forwarded to all the colleges to send the annual report on the cases of sexual harassment. The report must have the details relating to the cases registered between 1-April-2015 to 31-March-2016. The universities were directed to forward the circulars to the affiliated colleges. The affiliated colleges must submit the report through their affiliated university.

The UGC has stated that the matter is to be taken on priority and submit the report as soon as possible. Shivaji University, Kolhapur submitted the report to UGC last year. The report was submitted on sensitization of educational campuses on gender equality and sexual exploitation. The report was submitted to Meena Chandawarkar, Chairperson of the UGC’s standing committee on women’s studies.
