Brunel University, UK faculty Prof Uday Kishore will be visiting Gauhati University on May 9 and 10 on an invitation by GU Vice Chancellor Dr. Mridul Hazarika.
Earlier Dr. Hazarika had on February 27, this year, led a team of some high-profile teachers of GU to launch the first overseas chapter of the Gauhati University Alumni Association (GUAA), Europe Chapter. The meeting discussed mutual beneficial assignments between both parties.
A MoU was signed between Gauhati University and Brunel University in 2012 at the initiative of Prof Jon Chandra Kalita, who was a Commonwealth fellow in the Bio-Science division of Brunel University.
In the meeting, Prof Uday Kishore will discuss many important issues, encouraging the students to learn new things in every sphere of life. He will emphasize on starting dual degree in certain subjects and developing joint research projects etc. In addition, he will deliver a speech for faculty members of colleges and universities and research scholars titled, ‘Surfactant Protein D as a potent mucosal innate immune molecule’. A general lecture will also be delivered by him for post-graduate and undergraduate students on the title, “From Bacteria to Human: Journey of a Lifetime”.
The meeting is expected to be attended by students from all departments of Gauhati University.
