Central Cabinet approves Sammakka Sarakka Central University in Telangana : An official statement says that the Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave his approval on Wednesday to an amendment to the Central Universities Act, 2009 for setting up Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University in Telangana at Mulugu district as stated in the Thirteenth Schedule to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014. The University is named after the tribal deities Sarakka and Sammakka, who are worshiped in different areas of Telangana. Union Minister G.Kishan Reddy and Anurag Thakur summarized the decision taken by Narendra Modi to the media on Wednesday.
As per the official notice, Rs. 889.07 crore will be allocated to the university to improve its higher education teaching quality and enhance higher education accessibility. Furthermore, the funds will be offered to increase research facilities in culture, tribal art, and traditional knowledge systems to serve the tribal population in Telangana. The University will also increase its capacity, and try to eradicate regional inequalities.
