Union Education Budget 2024: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman announced the interim budget today, February 1, 2024. Along with other sectors, the education sector has been the key focus of the budget session. In the previous year, the government introduced multiple schemes related to the schools and announced the establishment of a digital library. Here are some of the key highlights of the Union Education Budget 2024 -- As per the latest announcement made in the Union Budget 2024, 390 colleges have been set up by the existing government
- Nearly 43% of the women enrolled for the STEM course
- Nirmala Sitaraman conveyed that enrollment in higher education by female candidates has shot up by 28% in the last 10 years
- As per the latest announcement, authorities will be forming a committee to establish multiple medical colleges across India. The college will be set up with the help of existing hospital infrastructure
- The Skill India Mission has contributed and trained nearly 1.4 lakh youth across India and upskilled and reskilled 54 lakh youth
- The Skill India mission also helped in setting up 3000 new ITIs
- The PM Shri which was launched in the year September 7 2022 has helped to provide quality teaching
It must be noted that 2024 is the election year and the Lok Sabha Election is scheduled to be conducted in April or May. The detailed budget related to different sectors will be released in July after the new government is elected by the people. In the February 1st budget there was not much focus on the Education sectors and no new scheme or major announcements related to the same were made,
