Union Education Budget 2025: The Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2025 on February 1, 2025. The Education department has been a primary focus of the Union Budget and several steps have been taken to enhance higher education, skill development, and technological advancement in this sector. Highlights of Union Education Budget 2025

Some of the primary highlights of the Union Education Budget 2025 have been listed below:
  • Create abundant opportunities in rural areas through skilling and development by multi-sectoral rural prosperity and resilience programmes that will be introduced in partnership with respective states.
  • A National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management will be set up in Bihar to help increase the income of farmers, enhance their produce and add value to it, create more employment opportunities for the youth, etc.
  • The government plans to set up 50,000 Atal Tinkering Labs in the next 5 years to foster scientific temper in the youth.
  • All government secondary schools will have broadband connectivity.
  • 5 National centres of excellence will be launched with expertise and partnerships from around the world to equip young minds with the required skills.
  • In the coming one year, 10,000 additional seats will be added in medical colleges and hospitals. This number is expected to increase to 75,000 in the next 5 years.
  • Major improvements will be done in the 5 IITs started after 2014 like better infrastructure to facilitate education for 6,500 more students.
  • The infrastructure and hostel facilities at IIT Patna will be improved.
