The Union Government has decided to launch a brand new scholarship for IIT students to help them do their best. Recently the HRD i.e. Human Resources Development Minister, Prakash Javadekar inaugurated the launch of new programs at Indian Institute of Technology, Dharwad the programs are also aimed at the development of the students.

Javadekar introduced the scholarship to the students saying that they can sell their ideas to the government. He also mentioned that the new campus will be a lot bigger than the current one and will obviously have more facilities. Students are asked to submit their ideas to the government and the best idea out of all will be awarded the scholarship. The scholarship is of Rs. 60,000 which will be given for 5 years every month.

During the inauguration, Prakash Javadekar was asked about his stand on reserving 25 percent seats for the same city students by Basavaraj Rayareddy who is the Karnataka Higher Education Minister Basavaraj to which he did not reply. Later he told the reporters that a decision will be taken on this issue after a thorough research and this issue will definitely be considered as a lot of people are asking for the same thing
