Department of Biotechnology, University of Calcutta invites applications for admissions to its Ph.D. programme in Biotechnology for the next session beginning in 2017.

Eligibility Criteria for CU's Ph.D. Programme:
- Candidates applying for the programme must be M.Sc. in any branch of Chemistry, Life Sciences, and Physics
- Passing out University must be recognised by UGC
- Must have secured 55% of marks in aggregate
- Candidates from ST, SC & OBC will get a relaxation of 5% marks
Selection Procedure for the Programme:
Aspiring candidates have to write an examination conducted by the University. It will be followed by an interview. The total marks for written test is 100 and the qualifying marks is 50.
How to Apply for the Programme:
The maximum number of seats available for the Ph.D. Programme is 14. Application forms are available on the official website of the institute and it can be downloaded in the PDF format. Candidates have to fill up the application form in their own handwriting with which self-attested copies of B.Tech/ M.Sc, NET/ GATE/ SET/ SLET/ M.Phil, SC/ ST/ OBC certificates must be attached and be submitted to the office of the concerned department. The application form is also available for a fee of INR 100/- at the cash counter of the university.
Those candidates who have cleared their UGC/ CSIR (JRF)/ SLET/ NET/ SET /GATE/ Inspire Fellowship Teacher Fellowship/or cleared equivalent examinations or passed the M.Phil examination will not be required to appear for the Ph.D. entrance test.
