University of Hyderabad to Introduce New Post Graduation Courses

The University of Hyderabad has decided to start post-graduate courses in Sanskrit Studies and Applied Geology. These new programmes received approval at the 84th Academic Council meeting.

University of Hyderabad to Introduce New Post Graduation Courses

The University of Hyderabad (UoH) , which is also known as Hyderabad Central University, will be offering new post-graduation courses from the next academic session. These courses will include Sanskrit Studies, Applied Geology, and Microelectronics and VLSI design. The university will also increase its overall intake to 2,140 this year from last year’s total intake of 1,900.

The introduction of these new programmes was approved at the 84th Academic Council of the university. The meeting was held on 22nd March 2019, Friday. Additionally, doctoral programmes in Systems and Computational Biology and also in Electronics Science and Engineering will be introduced. The university will also start an integrated M.Sc/Ph.D programme in the subject of Animal Biology and Biotechnology from the upcoming year.

Apart from the introduction of these new courses, the University will also resume admissions in certain subjects like Ph.D in Hindi and Anthropology, M.Phil. in Anthropology and Regional Studies, and M.Tech in Nanoscience and Technology this year onwards.

The meeting of the council also decided to institute a medal for the student that tops among all OBC students in every teaching programme of the university, accompanied by an SC/ST medal in all the postgraduate and integrated courses from the session of 2019.

The University of Hyderabad offered four new courses last year which lead to a surge in the applications it received. The courses introduced last year were Ph.D in Nano Science and Technology, Integrated M.Sc./Ph.D in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Ph.D in Education and M.A. in Education. P.G. Diploma in Sanskrit Computational Linguistics and Ph.D in Translation Studies were introduced again last year.

Last year, the University of Hyderabad received 52,991 applications for admission into the 117 courses it offers. While the university got applications from all across the country, the maximum numbers were from Telangana, followed by Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.
