Department of Geography at Rajasthan University is organizing the 45 th National Conference of the Rajasthan Geographical Association. The conference's focus will be on Resource, Population, Regional Planning and Development (with the state of Rajasthan as main focus). The conference will be held from November 9, 2017, to November 11, 2017. Researchers, members of the Rajasthan Geographical Association are invited to participate in the 3-day long academic conference.
Conference Theme:
Rajasthan, which is the largest state of India with almost 5.5 % of India's population, is mostly covered with deserts except for the southern and eastern part which are covered with Aravalli hills and fertile soil respectively. Conservation of natural resources, regional planning becomes all the more important in Rajasthan's case as it has access to only 1% of the country's total water resources.
Tourism, minerals, agriculture and animal resources are very popular in Rajasthan and help boost the state's economy. However, basic problems like access to safe drinking water in both urban and rural areas is still a concern. The divide between the rural and urban areas needs to be taken care of with effective regional planning and development.
The following topics will also be discussed during the conference:
- Land Resources
- Watershed Development Programmes and Rural Livelihoods
- Livestock Resources
- Tribal Area Planning and Development
