University of Petroleum and Energy (UPES), Dehradun has introduced the Bachelors of Arts programme in Public Policy. The aim of the programme is to help students develop professional skills and prepare for competitive exams.

The course will enable students to understand the art and science of public policy. To help the students prepare for Civil Services Examination, UPES has also added coaching curriculum along with the course for this BA programme.

The programme curriculum has been prepared to help students start a career in administration and policy making. The course will also focus on engaging students in a real-world formulation and implementation of public policy.

The course will be a career foundation for aspiring students and will help them grow further in the field. The course will also be helpful in the preparation for civil services exams as extra assistance is provided with the curriculum.

UPES has joined hands with Dr. Lakshmaiah, IAS Study Circle to prepare the pedagogy for the classes and training of students. An embedded curriculum will be launched for the preparation of the Civil Services Examination.

Eligibility Criteria for the Programme:

  • In order to apply for the Bachelors of Arts in Public Policy programme, candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in class 10th as well as 12th.
  • Final selection and admission will be done on the basis of a candidate’s performance in interview and counselling.

This bachelor's programme in Public Policy will enable graduates to work for Indian government agencies, not-for-profit organizations (NGOs), urban and regional planning, private sector organizations, financial planning and city management.
