University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun has introduced three new undergraduate programmes from the academic year 2017-18. The three newly launched UG programmes are BBA Accounting and Information Systems, B.A Economics with specialisation in Energy Economics and BCA with integrated training to earn industry certifications from Oracle /Microsoft/ Cisco/ SAP.
Eligibility Criteria for pursuing these courses:
- Candidate from any stream who wishes to apply for BBA Accounting and Information System course must have at least 50% in class 10 th and 12 th .
- The minimum eligibility for B.A Economics is also 50% marks in the 10th and 12th standard.
- For students willing to apply for BCA, a minimum of 50% marks is required in class 10th and 12 th . Also, students must have Mathematics / Information Technology/ Computer Science as one of the main subjects in class 12 th .
Utpal Ghosh, CEO and President of UPES informed that all the three-course are unique of its kind. The university has designed these specialised programs in high-growth sectors like oil and gas, IT, design, planning & architecture, power, infrastructure, legal studies and public policy.

The UPES’ BBA Accounting and Information Systems will prepare students to use technology to develop and create a competitive advantage and accounting understanding for different organisations. The course on B.A Economics with specialisation in Energy Economics program curriculum is designed to enhance the career of the students in the energy industry. It also prepares for industrial practical for the energy market analysts working in the private, government sector, international organisations and industry bodies.
The programme on BCA programme with integrated training to earn industry certifications from Oracle /Microsoft/ Cisco/ SAP is an updated, industry-related program for the ones who are interested in going for Non-engineering IT career.

The university has made academic collaborations with Cisco, IBM, Xebia, L&T, Philips Carbon Black Ltd, Mahindra, KPIT and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. to provide highly specialised courses so that they can meet the increasing demand for good skilled and highly employable candidates.
