UPSC Recruitment 2023: The Parliamentary Committee has decided to reduce the timeline of the UPSC Civil Services selection process. In the latest reports, it has been found that most of the candidates are missing the UPSC exam in Andhra Pradesh because of its long recruitment process. The various stages involved in the recruitment process affect their physical and mental health. UPSC Recruitment 2023 is conducted annually to select aspirants for the post of Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Administrative Service (IAS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS) through three stages i.e, prelims, mains, and interviews.
According to the data provided by the UPSC, the Parliamentary Standing Committee stated that the average time for the civil service exam is 15 months (from the issue of notification to the announcement of final results). Therefore, the committee has advised that the recruitment process should not exceed more than 6 months duration else, the long recruitment cycles have an adverse effect on the health of the aspirants. Resulting to which, only 16.82 lakh candidates have appeared for UPSC 2022-23 exam out of a total of 32.39 lakh students who actually applied for the civil services examination.
The Committee has recommended the Commission examine the reasons for the low turnout of students. As per Reports "The expert group so constituted may assess if the present scheme of recruitment provides an equal opportunity to both english-medium educated urban candidates and non english medium educated rural candidates." Furthermore, the committee wants candidates to provide UPSC the feedback stating the scope of improvement in their process of conducting the examination and how to ensure more transparency in the recruitment process.
