Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has planned to consider the application process of candidates for the civil services exams as an attempt for the same. The proposal for the initiative has been sent to the Ministry of Personnel by UPSC. The action was taken after noticing the fact that among the nine lakhs civil services applicants, only half the number of applicants appeared for the examination this year.
A total of six attempts are given to civil services applicants without any count limitations on the submission of application forms for the same. Candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes are allowed to sit for a maximum of nine attempts as prescribed by UPSC. It is to note that according to the notice issued against 2018 civil services tests, the change in the UPSC application attempt will not be valid for candidates falling under Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Scheduled Castes (SC) category.
