In a move to improve the quality of education in colleges affiliated to Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), the University has decided to introduce a ranking system from next session
"We are undertaking a massive overhaul of the university. We have invited suggestions from students and teachers in terms of upgradation needed for the university. The UPTU has notified several regulations with the objective of sustenance and improvement in the quality of higher education and for undertaking academic reforms," said the Vice Chancellor of the University to the media.
The vice-chancellor of the UPTU, during a meeting with other officials took the decision. In the meeting, panelists discussed methods to improve the quality of education and overall development of students.
Eighteen points have been suggested to rank colleges on the basis of education, placement, sports, result, extracurricular activities, college infrastructure, etc reports UPTU official.
“The college ranking system will help students to choose the best college as per their requirement during counseling session. It will also curb the fake advertisements put out by colleges to attract students. The ranking will be done by teams formed by the UPTU on the basis of feedback from students and teachers. After ranking the colleges, the data will be uploaded on UPTU website. Ranking of the colleges will be examined every year,” added the VC further.
The UPTU has also raised concern after witnessing steep downfall in admission during the ongoing session. Around 40% seats in various engineering and management colleges remained vacant.
