GATE 2021 is set to begin on February 06. However, many students are reporting that they may face difficulty in reaching the exam centre due to the ‘Chakka Jam’ announced by farmers on February 06, 2021. As per the reports, the farmers are planning to block national highways across the country and hold protests in most of the cities. At this juncture, there may be some police restrictions on February 06, 2021, which may cause a hindrance to candidates in reaching the exam centre. The candidates can show their admit card to the police if they are restricted to travel.
For this, IIT Bombay responded that ‘All-District Generals (DG) of Police and District Magistrates (DM) have been already informed about the GATE exam. Necessary support will be provided. Admit card can be used for smooth movement in case of any restriction of movement’.
Point 12 in the GATE 2021 Admit Card says –
‘At the time of examination, in case there is a restriction on movements in certain areas, candidates can use this admit card as a pass for the movement’.
The Chakka Jam is scheduled to be held between 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Even though Point 12 in admit card says movement without any restrictions, many students are worried about the availability of public transport to reach the exam centre. Students who have exam in the afternoon are advised to reach the centre in the morning itself to avoid unnecessary delay due to the protest.
All the Best to students appearing for GATE 2021.
