Utkal University’s rural campus which is situated in Chandikhole in Odisha's Jajpur district will be incorporating a couple of courses from next year. The university’s rural campus will offer courses such as Masters in Education , Post-Graduate Diploma in Communication for Development and three other certificate courses.
The campus was inaugurated on Saturday, 2nd March by the CM of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik. The university announced the mentioned courses on the day of inauguration. Soumendra Mohan Patnaik, Vice-Chancellor of Utkal University said that Utkal University’s rural campus is primarily open for admissions in MBA in Rural Management and Masters in Public Health .
Students from rural areas often find it tough to get access to education in big cities, so this rural campus of Utkal University will enable such students to get access to higher education. Vocational courses in rural development and other related subjects will help these students increase their employment prospects.

The rural campus of this university is the second Campus of the university aiming at the academic upliftment and higher education in rural areas. Currently, the classes are held in the temporary campus of Baba Bhairavananda College in Chandikhole and the construction of the permanent campus is under process. The rural campus of Utkal University is situated over 66.30 acres of land in Jajpur, Odisha. The state government had already sanctioned Rs. 25 crores for the campus. There are plans for setting up a technology park as well for creating indigenous technology on the campus.
